I have learned how to plan my lessons correctly in this unit. Firstly I learned that there are important functions when it comes to writing down my lesson planning. These important functions are functions like, an aid to planning, working document and a record. I could use my written down lesson plan to keep track of where I am in my lesson with the students, what the objective of this lesson would have for the learners and I would always have a record to fall back on if I need to be sure of an activity I have in the past etc. When writing a lesson plan I have to keep it simple and not write a script. I need to structure it well and try and keep that same structure throughout my lesson planning. Also, I need to write an anticipated time for each activity and I need to check the balance of skills. I really should also keep it flexible if I need to make adaptions during the lessons. Being organised when it comes to giving a lesson would also play an important role. I will need to have my lesson planned out. With that being said I would have gone through this plan to make sure that I have everything I need. If I do this in advance, I can lay out the materials and aids that I will be using and would be able to arrange my preferred seating structure. It is then important to make sure that my equipment is in working order and that my board is clean. It would also be nice to break the ice a little by talking to students as they enter the classroom. When I prepare my lesson plans I should include the learner objectives, my personal aims, the language points and teaching aids. I can include the problems with solutions that could arrise for both me and the students, procedure of my lesson, the class level and as well as the timing. Having the date and time written down on the lesson plan as well could be helpful for future reference. Then adding the number of expected attendance, the teachers and observers names is important. Lastly, when planning a sequence of lessons, I should pay attention to the flexibility and my goals for the learners and myself as a teacher. I should add time for revisions and need to have variety and balance.
