After viewing the two classroom demonstrations, it is clear that the attitude a teacher brings to his or her classroom will determine the outcome of whether the lesson will succeed or not. In the first video, the teacher seemed uninterested in teaching, and if a teacher has a negative attitude, chances are students will not want to try to learn. Many reasons can cause a lesson to go wrong but the teacher should always create a lesson plan that will have enough time for the students to be exposed to the topics they are learning, have enough practice, and be able to develop or produce the materials creatively. In both videos, the same teacher was teaching Thai students about the modal auxiliary verbs can and can't through the use of animals and their actions. The first video demonstrated the teacher with a negative attitude and he did not provide enough help or demonstrations to make sure the students understood the materials as well as the assignments. In the second video, the teacher seemed more energetic and was eager to help the students and he praised their mistakes instead of criticizing or losing his patience. From my personal experience, I have tried to be energetic and provide examples towards students, but based on the information that was presented from the second video, I should also be more praiseful towards students participation instead of saying no or that their answers are incorrect. Negative responses from a teacher can hurt a students self-esteem, especially if the student is shy. Also, I noticed that the Activate activity from the second video (creating an imaginary animal that can and can not do certain actions) some students did not understand the instructions and created a real animal. To avoid a confusion, especially since the teacher will be speaking in English and trying to avoid the native language, it is helpful to provide examples of what the teacher is looking for and what he or she is not looking for. In the video, the teacher could have provided his students with the finished product of his imaginary animal and a real animal to help the students understand what the teacher was asking them to create.
