Being a graduate English major who took Linguistics and a History of the English Language class while in university, this unit was a good, brief review of much of what I learned in those two classes, and I now feel like I have had a good refresher of both. Also, it had a great explanation of why this is something vital but often forgotten in the classroom.Once students have progressed to a certain point in their English language education, it is important to teach the different nuances of English expression and communication. This unit provides many ways to teach conditional speech, including games and role play. Students should practice comparing and contrasting direct and reported speech in the classroom.
