What I learnt from Unit 3: theories, methods, and technique of teaching is really helpful section to decided which methodology. I think the most influenced methods are: 1. Presentation, Practice and production: at first teacher are present the context and situation with explaining and demonstrating the meaning and then form new language. 2. Grammar- translation: learning language from converting the word between language. its mean that word are translate it into their native language (L1). 3. Task Based Learning: student are given task using the language they know. Teacher roles are helping with the problem and then provide feedback. 4. Communicative Language Teaching: using the language in real life situation instead focusing on grammar and vocabulary. There are also another type of methods of teaching, but the best way of use it will depend on culture of the student, personality, teacher- students communication, and motivation to learn from students. This course also focus a lot on Engage-Study- Activate. I also agree that ESA is the most effective and the most logical of all methodologies for especially myself as a new teacher and how to apply it in classroom. It explain a lot how to use the method for example: in 50 minutes class or teaching one-on-one. The first sequence is Engage that mean the teacher try to initiate and discuss the issue from the topic. also raising questions about it (If, What, Where, who, what and How?). In this point, students should involved and start thinking as much as possible before proceeding to the next phase. The next sequence is Study which mean students will focus on the language construction and the teacher role are take a note from any mistake or error and then make a correction after done with activity. The last sequence is Activate, where student are encourage to speak clearly and communicate about the topics. Some of the activate sample are: role-play, debate, survey, story building, etc. At the end of the lesson, teacher need to give a 'positive' feedback either by oral or written, so the student will feel appreciate and have motivation to learn. In term of correction technique, it is important to note praising the students is equally important as correcting. Hopefully, as a teacher I will learn about how to a grading and give feedback to my students.
