Unit 14 discussed course books and materials. This unit was very good at providing a plethora of examples for course materials to utilize in the classroom. The course materials can be broken up into two sections: authentic and created. Authentic materials are songs, magazines, radio broadcasts, or anything that was not specifically created for ESL classrooms. Created materials are exactly the opposite in which they were purposely made to be used in the classroom setting. The unit ended with discussing the pros and cons of using a course text book in the classroom. This unit was very helpful and I enjoyed seeing the visual materials to get an idea of what to use in my future classrooms.
