The videos were very helpful to understanding the classroom dynamics and how an instructor's attitude provides the foundation for a successful lesson. In the first video the teacher was condescending and apathetic to the students which created a feeling of fear and distrust. The teacher failed to explain auxiliary and interrogatory verb forms and he failed to make clear his expectations which caused the students to feel defeated and discouraged. The vast difference in atmosphere was immediate in the second video. The instructor introduced himself and the students with a smile and there was an instant sense of playful engagement with the introduction of a game at the beginning of class.
