This unit taught me about the various forms of evaluating a student's language level (tutorials, student evluations and tests), and specifically the various forms of testing that can be done, and the reasons behind them. For example, practice tests help prepare for external exams, diagnostic tests help the teacher understand what level her students are at, placement tests evaluate the student to guage their language level before placing them in the appropriate level, and progress tests help track the student's acquired knowledge throughout the class. Furthermore, I learned about the various external exams available and what they each specialize in.
