There are a variety of roles that a ESL teach must be ready to perform. An example of a role would be a prompter. This role is when a teacher notices a student that is struggling and will gently guide them to what the student intended on stating. There is also a variety of language learners that are all on different skill levels that need certain care. A beginner student shouldn't be held at the same level as an advanced learner and vise-vesa-vest. Students learn English for a variety of reasons. For example, they would like to study overseas where English is the native language or they would like to better their career options by learning English.
