While teaching English in a foreign country it will be imperative to understand how to evaluate and assess my students, both through internal forms of assessments and external programs for English assessment my students may wish to take. These tests allow me to understand the motivations, the progress, and the difficulties that a student may be having in the course. Different exams have different purposes- for instance, a placement exam is designed to determine the level of a student before enrolling in a course, while a practice exam is tailored to allow the student to learn about the format of a particular type of exam they may take in the future.
