This unit covered the various usages of the future tense, a few of which will be reviewed here. The future simple is a basic construction which involves the usage of \"will/shall\" and a verb. It's used for future facts, promises, predictions, assumptions, spontaneous decisions, and threats. Students often confuse \"going to\" with this usage. The future continuous is used to describe that something will be in progress at a particular time in the future. Students often forget to include \"be\" in this construction. The future perfect is used to describe something that will have been finished by a specific time in the future. Students often get confused with the usage of \"have\" in this form. The future continuous is used to describe something that, at a particular moment in the future, will be in progress. Students often omit \"be\" or the -ing ending of verbs in this usage. The future perfect continuous, as well as a few additional usages, make up the remainder of the future tense. This unit contained a number of useful teaching ideas, including a variety of songs which can be used to highlight different usages of the future tense. Different role play activities may also be used, in which future plans are discussed.
