The first set of four out of the twelve tenses that are usually stated in TEFL environment and support materials is presented in this unit: the present tenses (simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous). Each of these four tenses is covered in four different areas: - Form (grammatical construction and fundamental rules, key to identify the particular tense); - Usages (when and how should be appropriate to use one tense or another); - Typical student errors (examples that will likely pop up in class more often than not, so better to be prepared to help correcting them); - Activate state teaching ideas (suggested examples and activities that can help to put into practice the use of these tenses). I have a good grammar understanding, so I'm familiar with most of the content of this unit, but there are always some nuances that are hard to explain, like conjugation restrictions for non-progressive verbs. The rough classification presented with some exceptions examples was helpful to better approach the way to teach these nuances. Also the mention of the differences between since or for, gone or been, helps to keep in mind that what seems natural or obvious to a native english speaker might not seem so to an EFL student.
