Using course books in the class can be complex issue. We can divide the materials used in the class into 2 groups. One is authentic materials which can be programs, magazines, newspapers, songs, poems, brochures, menus, films or anything in English. They are not graded for level so teaches should select them carefully. The reason why teachers use some authentic materials is that they are real and more interesting. Also students can feel comfortable when they understand them. The second one is the created materials which are usually designed by the teacher. These are graded to the level of the students. These materials can be crosswords, word search puzzles, role-play cards , flashcards, gap fill activities and picture stories. Course books usually consist of a set of materials. There are some advantages and disadvantages of using course book in the class. Also there are some ways of using a course book efficiently such as creating a balanced lesson, not using it all the time, not relying on the information presented and matching the material given to the students needs. In addition, we can analyse a course book regarding the price, availability, design, methodology , skills, difficulty ,syllabus, topic , teacher's guide and the materials.
