In this unit, productive skills are introduced which include writing and speaking. These are two important skills for students because they allow them to communicate with others. Not only should students be able to retain information, but using the knowledge they have to create, and give opinions about is equally as important. Productive skills are important because it allows students to give opinions, and be human. Although writing is often neglected in the ESL classroom, it is equally as important and teachers should give opportunities in class for production, not just as homework. Getting students to express themselves can be difficult, so a variety of topics is needed to spark interest.
