Unit 13 is focused on Pronunciation. It introduces the ideas of stress and mouth/ lip/ tongue position for pronouncing words in the English language. It was interesting that the unit talked about teaching pronunciation and the various options of when to teach the information. From my personal teaching I have tried to help my students as they are one on one with me. I have had absolutely no knowledge of the Universal Phonetic alphabet so I never had a chance to use it in my teaching. It was a bit of a struggle to understand it, but once I worked with it, I could see where the use of the system allowed for both a native speaker and a esl student to pronounce English words with better clarity.
