I agree that students need as much exposure to the language they are learning as possible. Students need to be speaking more then the teacher but I don't think the silent way is a good method. The teacher needs to be speaking the language that the students are learning so they have a good example of English. The teacher should serve as an ideal model of the English language for the students. Community language learning is a good method because the students are being forced to interact with each other. They have the opportunity to teach and learn from one another and the teacher can step in if necessary. Then the teacher can observe and make notes on what the students need to work on later.
