Unit 5 covers an important element to a successful learning environment: classroom management. Many factors go into the overall dynamic of a class, but with planning, knowledge, and techniques, teachers can effectively ensure that the educational setting is conducive to learning. Basic techniques such as use of eye contact and voice lever are covered in this unit as well as things to think about regarding desk/student arrangement and how to build rapport with students. One important takeaway from this unit is that while Teacher Talk Time can be effective and beneficial to students, there are strategies to decrease unnecessary talking by the teacher and, thus, encourage more Student Talk Time.
