In unit fourteen, the contrasting characteristics of authentic/created materials and whether or not to use course books was examined. I learned that although a course book may contain everything you ?need,? it is not enough to be the sole source of material for class, no matter what level the students are. Course books, if available or chosen, are great for inexperienced teachers as they are more structured and allow students to better monitor their own progress. But whether or not you primarily focus on the course books syllabus or create your own, it is crucial to include your own created materials. By doing so, students interest will be kept and this will help maximize their learning.
