This unit describes the role of teachers and students in Business English teaching and learning contexts. The unit also provides an overview of the development of foreign language teaching theories and methods. What I learned from this unit is the importance of how we group learners. Ideally, we would like to be able to group learners based on assessed skill levels. It was helpful to learn that if there aren't opportunities to group learners based on skill levels, there are ways to overcome this - to ensure that every student in a mixed-ability group can have equal access to participate in learning activities. The wonderful thing about teaching adults, based on my own experience in adult education, is that adult learners value peer support in learning.
