This unit taught me a lot about conditionals and reported speech. Before reading this text, I didn't even know that conditionals were classified into five main types. Maybe one of the reasons I had never learned that is that the categories do not have very inspired names (zero, first, second, etc...). I know for sure that when I am teaching conditionals to my students, I will work on more interesting ways of referring to the different categories. Beyond nomenclature, the guidelines I learned for conditionals in this chapter are helpful to solidifying my foundation of grammatical knowledge. As someone with a fair bit of journalistic experience, I am well-reversed in the rules of reported speech, but the teaching ideas for that section will be useful as well.
