In Unit 9 I have learned the basic principles of lesson planning are keeping it simple, not scripting the lesson, the importance of maintaining the same structure, keeping track of the estimated time of activity, checking for balance of skills, and keeping the lesson flexible and open to adaptation. For lesson planning it is important to stay organized and have a \"learner objective\" what you want the students to be able to do by the end of the class. For a typical lesson plan teachers are encouraged to use the ESA model. The ESA model is helpful to keep lesson plans structured in the beginning while learning as a new teacher. It's also important to keep notes as a teacher on areas you'd wish to improve so lessons can run more smoothly as time goes on.
