This unit has explained to me what it takes to be a good teacher, how that will foster good students, the generally accepted stages or levels of esl learners, esl learners' motivations, the differences between adult and youth esl learners, and the various youth learners' age groups. I think that I have learnt what I need to do myself when I notice a less than desirable habit in my student. I also think that this unit has strengthened my belief that I would like to work with adult learners as I'm empathetic, and I know how hard it is to learn something new, especially a language, from another adult as an adult. I have also learned that one of my current students is classified as elementary, rather than beginner, and I will be sure to tell him this as he lacks confidence. :)
