This section discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using a textbook, and it also gives some helpful advice on how and when to implement your own material. Textbooks are a great resource especially for a teacher who is just beginning his lessons. They provide well structured and tested lessons. Also as the student progresses through the textbook they will feel like they are making real progress. The disadvantage is the material is not specifically designed for the student. The students may find the material boring, and unrelatable, and not adjusted to their level of knowledge. Sometimes a textbook might progress too slowly or too quickly and it is important to focus more attention where the students need it and pass quickly over material that is not needed to repeat.
