I actually really enjoyed reading this unit because it felt very applicable to the classroom environment. Having the example patchwork ESA model with ideas for activities at the different stages felt very valuable to me. I also found myself getting excited about the kinds of activities that can make learning the language interesting by teaching it alongside cultural information. More specifically, I found the concept of authentic texts useful. While it can be rewarding just to learn a new language, I also believe that being able to read books that are originally intended for native speakers of the language to be an even further rewarding experience.
