During Unit 1, I learned about the basics of what makes a good teacher, the general roles of the teacher in the classroom, what makes a good learner, the various levels of language learning, the differences between adult and young learners, and why people want to learn English. The most important thing that I learned from this unit was that there are several ways to teach and there are several kinds of learners. The best way for a teacher to reach each learner is to vary his or her instructional style, be mindful of cultural/personal differences, and actively work to build positive relationships with the students so they feel more comfortable to learn.
