This unit taught the ways in which new language ought to be introduced and taught to ESL students. I found the breakdown of what the students actually need to know and why to be very useful. As well as this, the unit served as a good refresher on the ESA method of teaching which we covered in an earlier unit. I particularly liked the inclusion of what students need to know, as personally I find things like the word origin or how long it has been used for to be fascinating. This unit made sure that I realised that this is not necessary information for students, and not to teach it unless they are particularly high-level, or take an interest themselves.
