The purpose of this unit is to provide the instructors methodologies for classroom management. Grouping the class as a whole can create a sense of belonging for the students, the teacher can get the attention of the whole class, students can interact with each other, however it may reduce the chance for some students to participate, and it could be uncomfortable for shy students who do not wish to participate. The teacher may also group the students in pair or as in individual. Nevertheless, the instructor may find different methods for grouping, such as orderly row, circles, horseshoes, and separate tables, each would allow the teacher to convey different activities, increasing or reducing teacher and student talk time, establishing rapport or connection with students, and maintaining class discipline.
