This chapter had many useful tools that could be applied to actual lessons. In particular, Cuisenaire rods were unknown to me prior to this lesson. Although my work environment constantly puts me in an online setting, whereby I teach students through a website, I could still apply a version of the Silent Way with a digital blackboard available to me. In terms of the exam, by far the most confusing question is #13 for the following reason. A patchwork lesson is structured like so: E( ... )A. As long as one begins with an Engage phase and ends with an Activate phase there can be any sequence in between. In #13 all cases are of the structure E (...) A. The only peculiar case is the E S A structure that is of a specific class we call 'Straight Arrow'. Although we call this particular class a special name it still falls within the bounds of a Patchwork lesson due to its structure. My only reason for choosing this answer then would be because a Patchwork lesson is designed to be a flexible alternative to the Boomerang and Straight Arrow lesson plans. If a Patchwork lesson amounts to the same as a Straight Arrow lesson our students would have a higher chance of predicting the course of the lesson and hence lose interest. I am still uncertain as to whether my reasoning is correct about this question.
