Teach English in Donglong Zhen - Guigang Shi

In this Unit, I´ve watched two videos. In the first video is many things wrong. The students has a problems to understand the teacher, as he speaks fast and uses language, which is below their level of English comprehension. The teacher doesn´t allow students to talk. Students work mostly alone. The teacher doesn´t know names of students. The students don´t participate effectively. I feel that in the Engage phase, the students don´t know too much of the animal vocabulary, so it´s difficult for them to use the 'modal auxiliary verbs' can and can't. In the Activate phase should the teacher make a pairs or groups, so the students can feel more comfortable and can arise 'student talk time'. In the second video the teacher is friendly, he smiles, uses clear and simple language, which makes students feel comfortable from the beginning of the lesson. The teacher uses gestures, mimes , keeps eye-contact, knows names of the students. The teacher has prepared a pictures of animals, including his own imaginary animal for the Activate phase. The students has opportunities to talk with other student during Study and Activate phases. The students are participate effectively in whole lesson. I´ve learnt from this Unit, which mistakes and errors can teacher be doing during the lesson.
