There has always been a debate as regards the best method for language teaching. The study of the gramar and translations are considered as the traditional method, used a lot in the 19th century. In 1970s behaviourists insisted on behaviorism where the repetition and imitation of native speakers seen were as the best tool for language acquisition. The PPP method is based on creating sentences and it is proved to be successful with lower level students. All the students are different therefore, the best method is to be aware of all methods and find the best formula and the best combination of the previous methods for each student. Other methods are: community talk- students are seted in a circle and they discuss a topic, the teacher is less involved here and only encourages the activity by providing a word, a follow-on question etc. The silent way: the teachers are involved only a little and students work and look for the answers on their own. Communicative approach is focused on developing student's speaking and communicative skills and abilities to interract in various real-life situations. One of the most iportant methods is the Engage, Study and Activate method. The Engage phase is the \"warm up\" phase for students who should feel interested, involved and motivated for the lesson, it involves flash cards, games such as sevens, the hangman, I spy, memory games,various pictures etc. The study phase is the one involving new study material, the students are concentrated on the language, the grammar, constructions with the use of worksheets, gap-filling exercises, word transformations, text analysis, spelling. In the Activate phase students use the lanuage actively through simple conversations with low level students and role- plays,debates and surveys with high level students. Lessons based on this method can be: -straight arrow lessons -where the three phases are take place linearly: Engage, Study and Activate. - boomerang lessons with Engage -Activate -Study -Activate sequence and Patchwork lessons where ESA phases are combined in many different ways (Engage-Activate - Study-Study- Activate). Teacher's feedback is very important for the student's learning process. However, mistakes or errors should be corrected without stressing the student too much. The teacher should not interrupt the student while he/she is speaking, but after. It is better if students correct themselves on their own because they learn more this way. Sometimes students correct each other but techers should be careful and forsee the way the student will react and avoid this method in certain situations.
