Unit nineteen is titled \"Teaching special groups\". The groups here highlighted include; Adult beginner students, Children, individual students (one-to-one lessons), business English students, Mono/multi-lingual classes. Below is a summary of my genral understanding its shortest length; Beginner Group: Most begineners have had, though in less considerable amount of exposure or interaction with English, thus there can be about five different sublevels, including the absolute zero beginner. The absolute zero beginner is only experiencing English for the first with you. Noteworthy considerations in the way of teacher's attitude, classroom arrangement and activties may include, but not limited to the foloowing: -Be as visual as possible (using real objects, pictures, restaurant menus, etc) -Speaker clearly and slowly -Give clear instructions -Put students in pair or groups -Encourage them to always speak English -Don't over correct -Plays and always prepare back-ups May a multi-sublevel beginner class not trouble you as most beginners still do not feel confident enough in what they probably had learned a long time ago, so starting from scratch would always be fine by the class. Children: Teaching kids may have its challenges, but by and large, it is one of, if not the most rewarding teaching experience a teaching could have. It involves a number skills (most of which inspired by the consideration that you are acting \"in loco parentis\") based on certain considerations key to the learning process. The consideration-based skills may involve: -Being patient, repititve and encouraging - give praises. They are all equally important in a child's developement and the praises build self esteem and motivation in the child -Keep activities short, varied and fun. Children have a short attention span, long activities may kill interest. Fun activities stir up their curiosty and hold their attention. -Give the classroom a colorful decoration to make it warm and welcoming to the kids. However you will inevitably encouter some challenges, some of which asociated with the following factors: -child's behavor due to family life or peer pressure. You may never be able to fix this -discipline in the classroom -A kid craving for attention, perhaps extra attention etc It is the teacher's role to be concerned and see into how to manage or fix the problems once identified Business english and individual students often require the teacher to have a slightly different approach to their teaching in comparison to the standard nethod often employed with other groups. Both speciall groups will almost always involve a need analysis will a number of features related to the course of learning.
