This unit explains all the aspects of classroom management. In the classroom the attitude of a teacher in regards to the students is very important. First thing the teacher should make notice of is his/hers eye contact, gesture, and voice. With eye contact he/she makes sure all the students understand the lesson, encourage contribution and holds the attention of the students. Gesture can add visual interest to the lesson and helps reduce teacher talk time. A good lesson depends on other factors too. One of them is how the teacher divides work. Students can work as a whole- class, which can be easy to organize but decreases students talk time. Students can also work on their own. This makes individual work for the teacher easier but there is no interaction between students. Students can also work in pairs or groups. Pair work creates safe environment for students, it makes sharing ideas easier, but sometimes students use there native language instead of English and not all partners like each other. In a group on the other hand there are less personal problems and students talk time increases but can be very noisy and takes some time to organize work. Classroom arrangement can have an important impact on the lesson, too. Students can sit in orderly rows, which makes easier for the teacher to move around, and eye contact and discipline are easier to maintain but it can add a formal feel to the lesson. Another option would be circle and horseshoe. This type of arrangement makes pair work easier and teachers position becomes less dominant but it is only useful for smaller classes. Arrangement with separate tables is good for individual attention but student to student interaction becomes very difficult. It is also important if the teacher knows all the students names and is able to give them individual attention equally. The teacher should also make sure to avoid unnecessary teacher talk time and increases students talk time. Also use simple language, common terms, and visual clues when giving instructions. Establishing rapport, preventing problem behaviour, and maintaining discipline are also important components of classroom management. In this unit I learned about all the aspects important for a good course. If I start well at the beginning and create a good report with my student and mutual respect everything is easier. Of course also choosing the right grouping of student, classroom arrangement, and siting order that matches the activity the students are doing, is important but I think the most important is the student teacher rapport. If a good rapport is not established there will be no respect, the lesson will be boring and there will be more behaviour problems.
