Unit 3 covers theories, methods, and techniques for teaching english as a foreign language. There are many different methodologies for teaching a language. The most important components being that students need to be motivated, be exposed to the language, and have the opportunity to use it. These can be put into practice with the ESA method- engage, study, and activate.This unit introduced the four basic skills we use when studying or learning language: Reading and listening, productive skills, speaking and writing. This unit covered and focused on the receptive skills aka reading and listening. It broke down why we use this as well as the way we use our brain to dissect information in different ways (i.e. scanning versus skimming).
