This unit discussed two main receptive skills: reading and listening. The different purposes of such skills were also elaborated. Generating the main idea to specification was also tackled in this unit. Different exercises on how to plan an ESA lesson was also discussed. Topic importance was also emphasized and how it can determine the level of engagement of the students.Exams, evaluations and tutorials are used to 1) place students into the correct classroom level 2) monitor their learning progress and 3) prepare them for external examinations. In short, they measure and prepare students to communicate correctly and effectively in English, and to ready them for the external examinations they may need for advancement in business or study.
