In this unit I learned about how to teach a new language to students, in this case how to teach English. The main focuses of teaching a new language is teaching vocabulary, grammar, and language functions. I also learned about that there is no right way to make a lesson plan, but was given suggestions of lesson plans that would work best for each focus, such as the boomerang for the language functions. I also learned about what I should consider and what I shouldn't consider when choosing new vocabulary to teach, such as making sure that the vocabulary is similar to words that the students already know and make sure they know the spelling and pronunciation.
