Course books and materials allow teachers to have an entire lesson planned out for them and all the needed materials prepared for them. Books are very reliable and concise in teaching language lessons whereas authentic materials provide better functional reference and practical skills for the students. As a teacher, paying attention to student's needs, styles and preferences, as well as profile and background could contribute in developing materials. We can be very reliant on books as they have already been tested but a good lesson would have a mix of authentic, created and course books (not necessarily all the time) to target student's needs and skills.
