The focus of this unit was the role and importance of receptive language skills (reading and listening). The unit describes two broad categories for reading and listening - for a purpose or for entertainment. This unit provided some strategies to support receptive language activities such as pre-teaching difficult vocabulary to ensure understanding, and/or making sure to provide context for certain topics.Unite 4 discussed the complexities of verb tenses in the English Language. There are 12 forms of verb tenses: past, present, and past, each of which has a simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous aspect. This lesson helped clarify the technical differences between each tense, and I learned good activities to use as practice in class as well as common errors that students make when learning them.
