This unit helped me better understand how to cater my lessons towards individual groups. Children and business people are very, very different audiences, so my teaching style must vary accordingly. Previously, I did feel a sense of nervousness and incompetency at the idea of teaching English to businessmen and women. But this lesson was reassuring in several ways. It reminded me that it is I who am the master of the English language, so I have authority to teach those students, whether I understand their business or not. The goal is to teach them English well. All I need to do that is to care about my students, to know my subject material well, and to be able to explain that subject material in a clear way.
