When learning about teaching English as a foreign language, there are many terms associated with this field. I appreciated having an explanation of the different types of general external examinations persons take, such as TOEFL- required by most American universities to admit foreign students who are non-native English speakers. In terms of providing testing to students, in my current work environment, I co-teach with local teachers of English, who predominantly prepare the exams students take. On odd occasion, I may contribute by doing a voice recording, or editing the test for errors. I believe my understanding of my students' progress would be broadened if I could be more active in the evaluation process.
