I LOVE the past tenses. I have so much fun playing games with my students asking them what they HAD been doing, what they HAD DONE, what they DID, and getting them to use all of the tenses in one story. I feel like the past is a little bit easier to speak about than the future and conditionals. There is something that DID happen, or HAD happened, and therefore is more concrete and they are able to grasp it more. I think the hardest part is for them to learn the irregular verbs like Do, Be, Catch etc. I think MY biggest issue, as a teacher of the tenses, is to know the names of each of the verb forms. Whether it's the participle form, the past continuous form or the simple. It is a reminder of my role as a teacher.
