As someone who will teach young students of a monolingual class, it is vital to remember both principles surrounding young students and monolingual classes. One thing I didn't consider, but appreciate, is that sometimes students will lapse into their native language to explain (while in groups), but ultimately the fact that everyone is practicing at the same time makes that time valuable. Additionally, creating realistic goals of learning for young students can often be forgotten when the textbook is the end all be all of a teacher. Reminders to teach and instruct with engaging material and allowing students to absorb information while engaging the whole student (mind and body)also is an important priority to keep in mind.
