Through my previous course on teaching ESL, I learned that all of the receptive and productive skills are equally important and equally necessary to becoming fluent in a language. This section focuses on teaching new teachers to use a balance of each of the four essential skills in each lesson that they plan, creating a varied and interesting lesson. Additionally, it provides a helpful overview of a sample lesson that uses each of the four language skills in unique and engaging ways. I think the most important take away from this lesson is that choosing texts that are appropriate for your students' levels and interesting to them. Without those two features for a lesson plan, students will feel intimidated or bored, or both!
