This unit introduces the different present tenses. There are four different present tenses, it is quite confusing... I have sort of found a way to think of each one in terms of when they should be used. Present Simple: Used for facts, doesn't mention any chronological elements. I like to eat rice. Present Continuous: Used to describe an action that is currently occurring, does not mention whether the action was started in the past. I am eating rice. Present Perfect: Used to describe an action that started in the past, but the future of the action is not specified. I have eaten rice. Present Perfect Continuous: Used to describe an action that started in the past and will continue in the present. I have been eating rice.
