Unit 2 outlines parts of speech as the most essential component of English grammar. Grammar is an area of English that terrifies both learners and teachers. The teacher is not a walking grammar reference book and is not obliged to know everything. However, he/she has the responsibilities to acquire enough knowledge on grammar in order to gain confidence from his/her English learners. The various parts of speech have been briefly presented: nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions. They are considered to be the heart of grammar. This unit also highlights the basic structure of sentences in English. Each sentence has a subject, a verb, and an optional object. The unit helps me to understand the various parts of speech which will enable me to structure my lessons well before delivering them to my learners. This unit is very vital to me because it focuses on the important aspects of grammar which will lead me to accuracy. I will therefore teach my learners with confidence.
