In conclusion I learnt much in this starting unit, unsurprisingly the relationship between student and teacher is a complex one to say the least. The teacher must be willing and able to fulfil many roles within the classroom as well as recognising when to apply those roles in appropriate situations. The unit also highlighted the challenges and differences in teaching different age groups, a brief example. A young learner may be less nervous about taking risks and making mistakes, being happy to learn from them. Whilst adult students are generally more anxious at the prospect of \"Losing face\" if they make a mistake but do on the other hand generally make for more attentive students. I was also made aware of the Council of Europe's newer classification of language level in addition to the one I was already aware of. On a more philosophical level what I personally took away from this unit was an overall prevailing encouragement of the correct attitudes both students and teachers should show and the principle that \"A good teacher equates a good student and a good class\" "Teflcoursenet_213959
