Unit 6 gives infomation about all past tenses, their forms, usage, common errors, and teaching ideas. Past Simple is explained both for regular verb forms (-ed / d) and irregular ones. Card games, memory pairs, interviewrole-playing, discussing past events and holidays are some of the ideas of sample activation. Past Continuous (WAS / WERE + V+ing for affirmatives) is used for interrupted actions in tehn past, without time expressions, gradual development (e.g.: It was getting dark), descriptions, and actions which began beofre that time and continued after. Detective game, diaries, journals, telling stories are good active stage ideas. Past Perfect is a 100% complete action. (HAD + V3). I liked the game of telling a story backwards. A final situation for reasoning is also a good idea for practicing. If we talk about a longer action or situation in teh past that had been going on continuousy up to the past moment that we are thinking about, we use PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS (HAD + BEEN + V-ing) In general, students make mistakes with irreggular and auxiliary verbs, forming these tenses.
