Managing the classroom is something that I struggled with a lot when I was a new teacher. I still have some issues when I am tasked with leading classes of very young children. Fortunately, I am now working at a high school and it is much easier to control there. I believe I generally agree with everything presented in this chapter. However some of the advice given with regards to class arrangement/seating is sadly not possible at the school I am currently at. The classes I am teaching now have about 40 students each which makes sitting in a U pattern not possible due to size restrictions. It also makes it difficult to move the students around much at all during activities because there is very little room for them when they all stand up. I believe the ideas from this chapter are very good, I just wish it was more feasible to implement some of them into my classes now. However, I do try to follow many of the ideas presented in the rapport section of this chapter. I have seen that having a good rapport within your class is absolutely essential to getting your classroom to function properly.
