Unit 4 taught me about the present tenses. Present tenses refer to current actions, states and generalities as well as habits and more. Present tenses include present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Present simple refers to habits, states, facts, present stories and historical sequences or directions. Present continuous refers to actions that are in progress, happening at the time of speaking, frequent, developing or regular around a point of time. Present perfect refers to finished actions or general experiences, completed past actions near the period of speaking, possibly continuing actions and past actions that have present results. Present perfect continuous tense refers to incomplete or ongoing actions, as well as recently finished actions with present results. Each tense has an affirmative, negative and question form. Each form has its own specific rules concerning the subject, verb and even auxiliary verb and past participles when appropriate. This unit not only covered form, but also common mistakes and suggested teaching exercises as well.
