This section covered modal auxiliary verbs, the passive voice, phrasal verbs, and relative clauses. Modal verbs show the degree to which someone believes something is possible. The passive voice focuses less on the subject. Relative clauses can help describe or identify a noun in a sentence. These are all important elements of speaking English that can make a student's language speaking more interesting and varied. The section about phrasal verbs was particularly interesting. I believe that being able to use phrasal verbs will be critical to helping students become more fluent and speak more colloquially. As the text suggests, I think it will be helpful to drop them in once in a while so that students become familiar with them.
