In this unit, I've learned the types of teaching materials; course books, authentic materials, and created materials. The authentic materials are real and more interesting, therefore can be more motivating. But it cannot be graded for a level. The created materials are designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials from a course book. And the traditional course book, even though less interesting, it provides a tested syllabus and balanced skills. As a teacher, I prefer to combine the three types of teaching materials, so that the lesson can be systematic as well as interesting and motivating. And in my recent lesson, I do give the very young children students the combined materials. They think it?s very interesting.
