This unit reaffirmed a lot of what I have experienced in my work as a high school teacher and gave me some new ideas to think about in terms of classroom management. I learnt that in grouping students, it may be important to consider their nationalities as well as their English level and age. I learnt some interesting ways to reduce teacher talk time and give the students more of a chance to speak and practice English. I also learnt the value in giving clear and concise instructions, using simple language and visual cues where appropriate. I feel that it will be very important to familiarise myself with the educational institution's code of conduct and only to make disciplinary threats where I'm actually able to carry out the punishment.
